I had actually started planning her party with a completely different theme. However, when we found out that my husband’s next rotation (he is in his 4th year of med school) had him out of town on her actual birthday …which meant moving the party up 5 weeks so he could be there. Then, because of the change in date, the location where we were going to have her party wasn’t going to be available (ugh!).
Long story short, I had to 25 days to come up with a whole new party from scratch. Luckily, the party gods smiled down on me, the stars aligned & my amazing cousin Kate was available to help me pull it all off. And, even though it wasn’t my original plan, a lazy Sunday afternoon out in the county eating pie, sipping root beer floats and picking berries in the sunshine, was a pretty perfect way to savory one of the last summer days of the year.
