We love a beautifully decorated cake but most home bakers don’t have the time or tools to pull off elaborately piped decorations. Here are four ideas for decorating a cake that don’t require a star tip or a piping bag.
Idea No.1 | Fringe Cake
What You Need: Airheads & Sixlets Candies
How To Make It: Cut Airhead or Taffy candies with a pair of scissors coated with nonstick spray and layer on your cake – trim with colorful Sixlets candies ‘studs’.
Idea No. 2 | Nerds Cake
What You Need: Nerds Candies
How To Make It: Press handfuls of Nerds candy around the outside of the cake for a fun & colorful look. Nerds in single colors can be found online.
Idea No. 3 | Fresh Fruit Cake
What You Need: Fresh Ripe Berries
How To Make It: Top with fresh berries – easy peasy!
Idea No. 4 | Pocky Cake
What You Need: Pocky Sticks
How to Make It: This ubiquitous Japanese cookie comes in about 12 different flavors and colors. They are available at most ethnic food markets. Be sure to buy more packages than you think you might need, because some sticks will be broken or stuck together.
To get this look, gently press the sticks around the outside of the cake.
