HOW TO MAKE THE JELLY BEAN FLOWER

The jelly bean flowers are pretty easy to figure out. Simply place a small gumdrop in the center of a frosted cupcake. Next, surround the gumdrop with jelly beans, making sure that the curve of each jelly bean is in the same direction.

These flowers are simple enough that they would make a great party activity, as well.

HOW TO MAKE THE NECCO WAFER FLOWER

To make the Necco wafer flowers, you’ll need 4 wafers and a large gumdrop. We found our large gumdrops in the bulk section of Whole Foods. However, I have seen them in the bulk section of our local grocer as well — the colors are just more classic. We loved the soft colors of the natural ones from Whole Food, so that is what we went with.

To create the flower, place one large gumdrop in the center of a frosted cupcake. Next, grab two Necco wafers. With one wafer placed on left side of the gumdrop, and one wafer on the right side, press the wafers into the gumdrop at the same time.  Putting them in at the same time makes it easier to really get the wafers sunk in there (because you kind of pinch the gumdrop). Now, rotate the cupcake so that the the wafers that you just sunk into the are now at the top and  the bottom of the gumdrop. Repeat the previous step, pressing the last two Necco wafers into the sides of the gumdrop (at an angle) at the same time.

The photo below gives you a good look at how the wafers should be placed.
